Description
This is a nice, original, still lustrous, silver,
"One Florin"
from New Zealand. These silver Florins were first struck for New Zealand in 1933 during the reign of King George V. In 1937 and from 1940 until 1946 they were struck for King George VI.
New Zealand produced them in silver until 1946. Then, in 1947, they went to copper-nickel and that metal continued until they went to decimal coinage in 1967.
Weight: 11.31 Gram, 28.58 Millimeter, .500 Silver. Mintage: 820,000.

Albert Frederick Arthur George VI was
"Bertie"
to his friends and family. The younger son of George V, and the father of Queen Elizabeth II, he unexpectedly became King in 1936 when his elder brother abdicated to marry the woman he loved.
Reverse:
NEW ZEALAND • ONE FLORIN • 1941 • Kiwi bird, flightless, they are native to New Zealand, the size of a chicken and nocturnal.
The Coin:
A nice, white, lustrous, lightly circulated coin. It earned a few marks but has never been cleaned and is scarcer and more desirable because of it. As grading is subjective, please see the pictures and judge for yourself.
