    Description

    The hand-painted insects are simultaneously fascinating, lovely, and a bit creepy.  One is signed, the other is not, but these were clearly decorated by the same hand.  There is a tight hairline on the signed brush pot extending from the top down about 1-1/4".  Both pieces have very fine crazing throughout and a few blotches of staining as shown in the photos.
    They measure 4-1/2" high and 2-2/8" in diameter.  I believe these to be authentic Meiji period pieces based on the style of decoration found in other pieces on-line that are identified as being from that period.  If I have missed the mark I will add to the listing or pull it entirely to prevent misrepresentation.
