Liopleurodon means "Smooth-sided Tooth". This marine reptile is known as a pliosaurs and like whales surfaces for gulps of air. They were know to be a fast swimmer and had a highly developed sense of smell based on the forward facing position of its nostrils. Liopleurodon measures 6.9" L x 1.9" H and is realistic and lifelike in every detail down to its protruding teeth and the texture of its skin.

The carnivorous reptile lived in the Middle Jurassic Period, about 160 - 155 million years ago. The first specimens were three teeth found in 1873. Fossil specimens have been found in England, France and Germany. The Liopleurodon had four paddle-like flippers, indicating it was a powerful swimmer. The largest known skull of the creature is 5.1 feet long, and some scientists believe the Liopleurodon could have been between 23 - 34 feet in length.
