    Description

In this listing we have New Good Lookin' Ken. This doll is the Mod era version of Ken and was released in 1969. He is a really handsome doll with his chocolate brown hair, bright blue eyes, and light pink lips. He uses the redesigned Ken body and is articulated at the neck, shoulders, hips, and has clicking knees with internal joints. This doll was made in Mexico.
This doll is in decent shape, he has been played with, so he does have some play wear. He also has some common age issues. This doll has been washed, but could a more in depth cleaning. For starters his face has paled. The rest of him is a very pink color, but his head is a more yellow color. His nose is more yellowed than the rest of his head, and he has a pale spot on the side of his head below his sideburn on the right. He does have some minor paint wear to his painted hair. The edge of his hairline is a little sloppy in places. Some places the paint goes above the painted hairline and in some places the paint goes below the painted hairline. His face paint is nice. He does have a chip to his left eyebrow. His right eyebrow looks good. The doll’s eyes look good. He does have some excess white paint on the bottom of his right eye in a couple places. It’s hard to see unless you are looking really up close at him. His lips and teeth look good. He might have some minor paint wear to the bottom edge of his lower lip and on the left side in the corner of his mouth there looks to be a small bit of missing teeth paint, but it’s super hard to see. His body looks good. He does have some scratches and scuffs to his hard plastic torso. On his upper back he has a small black spot that seems to be embedded in the plastic. Both of his arms are covered in some dark discoloration. It looks like dirt. He was washed, but I could not get it to budge. It could use something stronger then Ivory soap to come off, and it could possible not come off. He has a green stain to the back of his right arm a little below his elbow. His legs also have some dark discoloration. His knees click and hold a pose twice. There’s some small bumps behind his knees (he has been stored with his knees clicked once since I got him). On the right leg there is a blue spot on the back of the thigh. Also on the back of his legs on his thigh he has two holes in his leg “skin”. It’s from where they rubber is anchored to the hard plastic leg “bones”, but his are more obvious then some. There is another blue stain to the front of his left leg at the hip joint. He also has some melting at his hip joint. This happens with all Ken dolls of this era. I am not sure how to fix it. The plastic reacts to the rubber at his job joint and makes his plastic go soft. Sometimes his legs will stick and need to be forced a little to get them to move. You can see some of the melted plastic on the bottom of his torso. I would be careful with his hips since they can be fragile and break. Please examine all pictures to see the exact condition of this doll and please keep in mind some issues are more visible in person compared to pictures.
This listing is for the nude doll alone, the stand shown is not included.
