Coins shipped via standard envelope are shipped first class in envelopes with tracking. Generally, coins shipped for .99c are standard envelope. The coins are packaged between two pieces of cardboard, or card stock paper. I have found this to be a very safe way to ship coins for several years and have not had any issues yet, though it is always possible something can go wrong. In the event anything goes wrong, the coins are covered by Ebay protection.
Airmail destinations will be shipped in a first class envelope with the coin packed in a plastic baggie between thick paper or thin cardboard.
