    Description

    Beautiful Civil War U.S. belt and buckle. This is the early war issue with original brass loop keeper. This wonderful piece has been a treasured part of my collection and shows signs of honest wear and age from decades in storage. The belt is constructed of two-inch-wide leather hide and is fitted with a brass belt keeper which was a big improvement over the earlier model M-1855 which had an integrally-sewn loop. Measures 39 inches in overall length. The belt plate has a handsome untouched patina with full lead solder on back. Leather is very dry to the touch but still pliable and free from any major damage. Overall, a very nice example of a U.S. Infantryman’s belt. I’m selling only a few items from my extensive collection so please see my other listings for more historical finds. Thanks for looking.
