Here is an elegant Japanese classic
musen shippo
(wireless) enamel cloisonné vase decorated with two groups of flowering iris plants.
These wireless (
musen shippo
) vases are very difficult to find in entirely wireless technique.
The background of this vase is finished in a high polish and is in pristine vintage condition without any major faults such as cracks, chips or hairlines or restoration. The
Ando
trademark is formed in wire on the bottom base.
The chrome rim is lightly pitted and oxidized from age.
As many of you know, I originally acquired this vase many years ago as part of my fanatical efforts to obtain as many examples of unusual examples and techniques for my reference book on Japanese cloisonné.
Specialists generally agree that less than 7.% of all Japanese cloisonne enamels are marked or signed by their artist workshops.
