    Description

Unusual 4X5 Century Model 46 Camera. Shipped with USPS Priority Mail.
The exterior leather on the front cover has deteriorated but the remainder is intact. The original Century lens is gone and this has a Bausch and Lomb Tessar lens.  When I acquired this many years ago it was being used as a 4x5 enlarger.
    According to http://www.historiccamera.com/:
The Century Camera, Model No. 46 was manufactured by the Century Camera Company from approximately 1908 to 1910. This model was the first in the series to introduce the double section brass bound telescopic bed with patent pinion lock and Swing back, Swing bed operated with rack and pinion.
The Model No. 46 camera was constructed of solid mahogany box with dovetail joints and covered in black cowhide leather. The brass hardware is highly polished and lacquered. The bed is highly polished mahogany and attached with piano hinge. The front provides a rising and falling adjustment with a patent automatic bed clamp and rack and pinion focusing. The back is reversible with automatic screen. A brass bound, hooded and reversible finder is provided for vertical or horizontal images. The camera was fitted with a Century Rapid Convertible lens and a Century Automatic, No. 1 shutter with operations for instantaneous, time and bulb exposures. Made in two sizes, a 4 x 5 inch originally priced at .00 or a 5 x 7 inch size originally priced at .00.
