Item Description :
This is an antique Japanese pottery vase of Old Akashi ware, which was made about 100 years ago.
This vase is designed to imitate 'TAKOTUBO, an octopus trap'.
A Japanese short poem is hand-carved on the body.
An octopus is molded on the body.  The octopus is the feature of Akashi ware.
Akashi ware has been made in Hyogo prefecture, Japan between 1622 and 1965. It was closed in 1965.
